Summary Federal Government has given final shape to the draft of Drug Regulatory Agency Bill.

Its new title has been suggested as Drug Regulatory Authority Bill.This bill would be presented in the National Assembly Session on September 3.According to the proposed bill of Ministry of National Regulations, the number of member of the Regulatory Authority has been increased to 13 from 7 while the total number of members of policy board has become 16.The proposed bill consists of suggestions of all provinces.Secretary Health of all four provinces will be the members of the Authority. It is for the first time that Gilgit Baltistan, Fata and Kashmir have also been given representation in the authority.According to the proposed bill, Chief Executive officer would be M Phil Pharmacy and would have 20 years of experience. The appointment of said office would be on PM’s discretion.The authority would register Homeopathic, Allopathic and Ayurvedic medicines. Food supplements, cosmetics and medical devises would also be brought under the net of law.Six more departments such as Quality Control, Pharmacy services, Health, Finance and Pricing have also been included in the authority.Keeping in view the importance of the Bill, the Committee decided to have threadbare discussions on the Bill for the meaningful input, while the bill will be tabled in the forthcoming session of the National Assembly on September 3.
