Summary NDMA chairman says infrastructure to face floods substandard, Met forecast undependable.
Chairman National Disaster Management Authority Zafar Iqbal Friday said that the forecasts made by the Met office were not dependable.Talking to Dunya News he admitted that the departments supposed to deal with floods were inept and ill-equipped.There is no proper drainage system in Pakistan, he said, adding all claims about drainage systems in Lahore, Karachi and Faisalabad were exposed by the rains as water accumulated on all roads and streets.Chairman NDMA warned that there would be serious problems in case of more rains in the country.Building codes in Pakistan were outdated and not up to international standards, he added.
