Summary The talks between the PPP and the MQM have moved in positive direction regarding LB system.
A meeting of PPP-MQM Core Committee held at Sindh Chief Minister’s House to discuss the different points of draft of local bodies system.Agha Siraj Durani of PPP said that progress was underway on the draft of the LB system. He said that Mayor would enjoy more powers than the past.Syed Sardar Ahmad of MQM said that both the parties agreed on 107 out of 130 clauses of the draft of local bodies system.A working paper would be prepared to shift powers from provincial government to municipal level.Sindh governor and CM would give the final decision over the draft.
