Summary Muslims took out rallies in different cities of the country in order to mark Al-Quds Day on Friday.
Participants condemned Israeli occupation on Palestinian territories and appealed the world community to play their role for liberation of wretched of the earth.A large number of people participated in the rally held in Islamabad where speakers said that the US and Israel were main forces which were igniting fire of hate and sectarian riots in Pakistan for their vested interests.In the same way, a big rally was arranged in Lahore which commenced from Islampura and culminated at Karbala Gamay Shah. Scholars threw light on the historical background of Palestine and suggested strategy for freedom of the ruled.Likewise, big rallies were taken out in different cities particularly in Quetta, Peshawar, Multan, DG Khan, Tobatek Singh, Jhang, Chichwatni, Bhalwal and Nawabshah.Participants were holding banners and placards inscribed with anti US and Israel slogans. They also set national flags of both countries on fire and raised voice for liberty of Palestine.On the other hand, the United States on Friday condemned Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejads comment that Israel was a tumor that needed to be wiped out, as hateful and divisive.National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor told AFP that if Iran was as concerned about human rights as Ahmadinejad said, it should stop supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assads brutal assault on his people.We strongly condemn the latest series of offensive and reprehensible comments by senior Iranian officials that are aimed at Israel, Vietor said.The entire international community should condemn this hateful and divisive rhetoric.If Iranian officials are truly concerned about protecting the rights and dignity of all human beings, then Iran should stop supporting Assads brutal assault on the Syrian people, Vietor said.Iran and Syrias blatant disregard for basic human rights is the real insult to humanity.Ahmadinejad earlier delivered his latest explosive remarks about Israel in a speech in Tehran marking Quds Day.The Zionist regime and the Zionists are a cancerous tumor. Even if one cell of them is left in one inch of (Palestinian) land, in the future this story (of Israels existence) will repeat, he said.The nations of the region will soon finish off the usurper Zionists in the Palestinian land.... A new Middle East will definitely be formed. With the grace of God and help of the nations, in the new Middle East there will be no trace of the Americans and Zionists, he said.The diatribe took place amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran over Tehrans disputed nuclear program.The Jewish state has in recent weeks intensified its threats to possibly bomb Irans nuclear facilities to prevent it having the capability to produce atomic weapons.
