The leaders of APHC and other pro-liberation organisations in Indian held Kashmir, called for a complete shutdown in the valley as India celebrates its 66th Independence Day on Wednesday (August 15).The leaders said that the observance of the Day is meant to convey to the world that the Kashmiris totally reject Indian illegal occupation over the territoryMajor market areas in provincial capital Srinagar wore a deserted look as the government imposed curfew in the city.The shutdown and the subsequent curfew have hit normal life.A local said that they found it difficult to stay at home as Eid was round the corner and they had to make arrangements.All the factions have called for the shutdown, as today is Indias Independence Day, so the whole of Kashmir is closed. Though the government has imposed a curfew, however, locals are helpless as Eid is round the corner and they have to make arrangements, said Farooq Ahmad, a local.Amid high security, troopers were seen patrolling the areas in Srinagar city with an aim to avoid any untoward incident on the Independence Day.The Indian authorities have blocked the mobile network across Kashmir in view of security.
