Summary Contracts of Rs 1.28 b have been given to subordinate institution of Housing and Works authority.
Former Managing Director of PHA, Rasool Bux gave special favors to two construction companies involved in corruption. The FIA and NAB have started investigations in this regard.According to documents of ministry of Housing and Construction, a corruption of more than Rs 730 million has taken place in seven housing schemes under Prime Minister’s Housing Program.The documents revealed two construction companies have been allegedly involved in the corruption, including Messrs Abdul Majeed and Company, and Messrs Techno International.Messrs Abdul Majeed and Company was granted three projects in Islamabad while Messrs Techno International was given one project in the federal capital.Despite alleged involvement of the two companies in corruption, MD of Pakistan Housing Authority, Rasool Bakhsh issued Letters of Acceptance (LOA) to them on July 25 for constructing houses for federal government employees in category-II of Kurree Road, zone 5, Islamabad.On the other hand, Messrs Techno International and Messrs Abdul Majeed and Company were issued LoA of Rs 86,28,42,500 and Rs 42,12, 97,500 respectively.Issuance of LoA to these companies was tantamount to contempt of court but the former MD of PHA issued them two more contracts.Sources said that Rasool Bux is not only accused of corruption in three cases but he is also involved in incurring billions of loss when he was bearing the office of Director Admin in Pakistan Steel Mills.These cases were registered by FIA, even then former Housing minister Faisal Saleh Hyatt gave him office in PHA.Present minister of Housing Sardar Talib Nakai took notice of the matter, sacked Rasool Bux from the office and hinted at cooperation for transparent investigation with FIA.In addition, the serving minister of housing, Sardar Talib Nakai has barred operation on the projects on which Rasool Bux, as MD Pakistan Housing Authority, issued letters of acceptance.
