Summary The whole nation celebrated the Independence Day on Tuesday with zeal and patriotic fervour.
The day dawned with thirty-one gun salute in the federal capital and twenty-one gun salute at the provincial capitals.Special prayers were offered for the prosperity‚ integrity and solidarity of the country.A smartly-dressed contingent of Pakistan Naval Academy took over guard duty at a change of guard ceremony at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi on Tuesday morning.In Karachi‚ the flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Mazar-e-Quaid in this morning. On the occasion‚ the Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan and the provincial Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah were the chief guests.InLahore‚ Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif hoisted the national flag at a special ceremony held at Hazoori Bagh‚ in front of Lahore Fort.The ceremony was attended by a large number of scouts and children of various schools‚ who sang national songs.At Wagha border‚ the Punjab rangers unfurled the Pakistan flag. A large number of people attended the ceremony.Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the mausoleum of Allam Iqbal to pay homage to the national poet.In Peshawar‚ Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti hoisted the flag at Police Lines.In Quetta‚ Speaker Balochistan Assembly Muhammad Aslam Bhotani hoisted national flag at the lawns of the assembly premises.The ceremony was attended by provincial ministers‚ MPAs‚ high ranking civil and miliktary officials‚ large number of people including school children.Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Faeez Eesa hoisted the national flat at the lawns of the court premises in Quetta this morning.Balochistan High Court judges‚ Advocate General‚ members of Balochistan Bar Council‚ advocates and elites of the town attended the ceremony.In Kharan‚ an impressive flag hoisting ceremony took place to mark the Independence Day at District Secretariat. People from different walks of life attended the ceremony.In Gilgit‚ Speaker Gilgit-Basltistan Legislative Assembly Wazir Baig hoisted the national flag at a ceremony at historical Chinar Garden.Similar flag hoisting ceremonies were held in all Gilgit-Baltistan district headquarters.Force Commander Northern Areas Maj Gen Ikramul Haq hoisted the national flag at FCNA Headquarters in Gilgit.In Muzaffarabd the President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan hoisted the national flag.The ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister Ch. Abdul Majeed‚ Speaker Legislative Assembly and Cabinet Ministers.The Independence day was also celebrated by Pakistani missions abroad.In this connection‚ special flag hoisting ceremonies were held at Pakistani embassies abroad‚ including Saudi Arabia‚ China‚ India‚ Turkey and Sri Lanka.Armed Forces of Pakistan alongside the entire nation also celebrated the Independence Day with zeal and fervour.National flag hoisting ceremonies were held at the Joint Staff Headquarters‚ General Headquarters‚ Services Headquarters‚ all Corps Headquarters‚ Formations‚ strategic Installations and all units of the Army‚ Navy and Air Force followed by singing of national anthem. Messages of the Services Chiefs were read out on the occasion.
