Summary Citizens protest against massive blackouts during sehr and aftar timings across the country.
Government seems helpless to provide relief to the masses during the holy month of Ramzan.Despite all claims, it is becoming impossible for the authorities to implement government’s orders to end unscheduled load shedding across the country.According to details, the consumption of electricity has increased to 18,600 mega watts due to the excessive use of air conditioners whereas the production of electricity is not more than 13,300MW due to the insufficient supply of fuel and gas. Meanwhile, the shortfall has reached 5,000MW.Due to the increase in consumption, the system is facing problems due to which transformers are not even working properly.According to National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) officials, construction on Muzaffargarh transmission system was in last stage while electricity will soon be generated through Lalpir thermal power plant. The official said that the load shedding hours will be decreased by tonight.Meanwhile, protests were staged in different parts of the country against prolonged and unannounced load shedding.
