Masses continue to face severe power outages across the country despite government’s efforts to provide relief during the holy month of Ramazan.According to details, the consumption of electricity has increased to 18,000 mega watts due to the excessive use of air conditioners whereas the production of electricity is not more than 13,000MW due to the insufficient supply of fuel and gas. Meanwhile, the shortfall has increased to 5,000MW. Due to the increase in consumption, the system is facing problems due to which transformers are not even working properly.Due to the power outages, water supply has also been affected.Protests were staged in different parts of the country against prolonged and unannounced load shedding.
