Summary The electricity shortfall has reached 6500MW in the country.

Due to shortage of furnace oil supply to power houses, the electricity shortfall has reached upto 6,500 MW.According to sources, electricity generation is 12,431MW while demand is 18,517MW.Owing to this gap in supply and demand, loadshedding is on its peak in the country. The power distribution companies including LESCO, FESCO, GEPCO and MEPCO have increased unannounced loadshedding.Urban areas of the country are facing 14-16 hours loadshedding, while rural areas are facing 18-20 hours unscheduled loadshedding.
