Summary A delegation of MQM called on President Asif Ali Zardari in Karachi on Monday.
A delegation of Muttahida Quami Movement comprising Dr Farooq Sattar, Babar Ghauri, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Raza Haroon and others called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House Presidential camp office here.Law and order situation in Karachi, demand of extortion money from traders, and kidnappings for ransom came under discussion during the meeting.The delegation apprised the president about the killing of traders by terrorists in case they refuse to pay the extortion money. Continuous killing of MQM workers in Karachi was also discussed in the meeting.The president listened to the delegation attentively and assured immediate action for solving problems. He gave orders to the Sindh administration for improving the law and order situation in Karachi.Later talking to media, Muttahida Quami Movement leader Raza Haroon said the meeting was part of MQM plan to contact political parties for creating consensus over national issues.He said the meeting was very fruitful as the President listened to their concerns and assured solid measures to restore peace in the country especially in Karachi.Haroon said the President assured them to handle Land mafia, drug mafia and extortion mafia with iron hand to provide relief to Karachi people.Responding to a question regarding local government elections, Raza Haroon said that MQM has conveyed their recommendations to President Zardari added that these elections should be held as soon as possible so governance power would be given at gross root level.
