Fakhruddin takes oath as new CEC

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry administered the oath to Fakhruddin G Ibrahim at a ceremony held at the Supreme Court in Islamabad.The ceremony was attended by Judges of the Supreme Court and officials of the Election Commission.Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim has served as the law minister‚ attorney general‚ a judge of the Supreme Court and the Governor of Sindh.Later talking to the media persons‚ Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim said that holding fair and transparent elections in the country is his major task.He said it is the prerogative of the government to hold elections‚ and his statement demanding early elections was merely his personal view.The Chief Election Commissioner said he will abide by the constitution and implement the orders of the Supreme Court.
