Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has extended the tenure of the Chairman of Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) Khalid Mirza for one month. Mirza was sacked yesterday after which media criticized the decision severely. After the long investigations by the CCP, cement companies were fined Rs 6 billion for controlling the cement supply. Mirza was fired after the investigations. The tenure of Mirza expires in 2010 however after his removal on yesterday Additional Secretary Planning Javed Akhter was promoted in grade 22 and appointed as the new CCP Chairman. However, today the PM announced one month extension in Mirzas job. Talking to media in Karachi the PM said that if media believed Mirza was helping to end the sugar and cement crisis, he would continue to serve on his post.
