Summary Electricity shortfall has been increasing due to closure of three power plants and shortage of oil.
According to PEPCO sources,electricity generation currently stands at 13, 635MW against the demand of 17, 714MW.Hydel power plants are generating up to 4,620MW, Thermal 1, 846MW and 6400MW electricity is being supplied by IPPs.Meanwhile, urban areas are facing 12-14 hours of power cuts while rural areas are facing 16-18 hours of load shedding.
