Summary At least five patients died as young doctors stop work at emergency wards of public hospitals.
The healthcare situation at the publice hospitals further deteriorated after police crackdown against protesting young medics during which several doctors were arrested.At the Mayo Hosptal in Lahore, doctors left the hospital while treating a child, as a result the kid died due the non-availability of medical treatment.Police Station Gawalmandi registered a murder case against six doctors. Four of the doctors have been arrested so far.The young doctors also stop work at the emergency ward of Punjab Institute of Cardialogy due to whci the condition of several patients worsened.Meanwhile, young doctors in three public hospitals in Faisalabad, Allied Hospital, Civil Hospital and FIC Hospital, stoped work at the emergency ward due to which 5 patients died. The dead included a child and two women.The DCO Faisalabad, Naseem Sadiq while addressing the media during his visit to Allied Hospital said that services of six senior doctors have been acquired who will take charge of their duties very soon.The Punjab government has cancelled holidays of all teaching and non-teaching doctors while senior doctors and assumed charge in public hospitals in Lahore, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, Faisalabad and several other cities.Meanwhile, 250 doctors of Pakistan army will assume charge of OPDs in Public hospitals in different cities of Punjab.
