Satisfied Gilani terms himself a 'winner'

Ex-PM Gilani said that he had been disqualified by Supreme Court and not parliament.

Talking to media at Lahore airport on Thursday, former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said he wished parliament had disqualified him, adding that he believed in the supremacy of parliament and he has served all his life for this purpose.Referring toSupreme Court’s judgment, Gilani said he has accepted the verdict given by the apex court, though SC was not authorised to dismiss an elected PM.Prime ministers keep on changing and dream of leaving the Prime Minister House gracefully turned into a reality, he added.Yousuf Raza Gilani said he is contended that assembly is completing its tenure.Expressing his self satisfaction, former premier said it was the first time when an ex-PM attended the oath taking ceremony of a new prime minister.He said he is the only prime minister who had been given farewell dinner.Former PM Yousaf Raza Gilani Thursday said that his conscience was a clear and he had no regrets.He said no one can occupy an office forever and it a routine matter that people come and go.He said he was happy that he was not dismissed by the Parliament.Regarding the Supreme Court decision he said SC was not authorized to dismiss an elected prime minister, adding the verdict of the court was accepted to save the democratic system from derailing.
