Summary Interior Advisor Rehman Malik has said that Army should not be criticized in Sarbajeet issue.
Army has been playing commendable role as it did not take over the country despite there was no writ of the government for three days. While talking to the media in Islamabad, Rehman Malik said that the Pakistani Army has nothing to do with the Sarbajeet’s release; rather it is a political matter which was decided by the government. Replying a question regarding Army role, he repeated that Army’s role is appreciable from every point of view. Rehman Malik said that the Interior Ministry has not sent any summery to the President for the release of Indian prisoner‚ Sarbjeet Singh.He tried to make it clear that Sarbjeet Singh and Sarjit Singh are two different Indian prisoners.Rehman Malik said that the death sentence of Sarjit Singh was converted into life imprisonment by former President Ghulam Ishaque Khan. He said that now Sarjit Singh has completed his term and his release is expected in the next forty-eight hours.He said that the information provided by India to Pakistan about Zabihuddin Ansari is incomplete.
