SC orders suspension of IG Gilgit Baltistan

Summary Supreme Court has ordered to suspend Inspector-General (IG) Gilgit Baltistan Hussain Aghar.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the hajj corruption case on Wednesday.During the proceeding, chief justice remarked that Hussian Asghar’s salary should be blocked if he doesn’t follow court orders. He questioned why Hussain Asghar didn’t appear before court, adding that he doesn’t enjoy a post superior to prime minister.Deputy attorney general said that Hussain Asghar didn’t appear despite being summoned several times.After hearing attorney generals statements and Hussain Asghars absence despite court orders, the bench directed to suspend Hussain Asghar and present a report, adding that legal action will be taken against him.The case has been adjourned till June 28.Hussain Asghar was the head of investigation team probing the hajj scam. The government appointed him as inspector general of Gilgit Baltistan last year on which Supreme Court ordered to reappoint him as head of team.
