Summary Babar Awan has rejected the Presidential Ordinance that gives protection to former PM Gilani.

After being completely sidelined by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership, former Law Minister Senator Babar Awan has rejected the Presidential Ordinance that gives constitutional protection to Yousaf Raza Gilani.He was talking to media men outside Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday.A presidential ordinance was issued to give constitutional protection to all legislative and administrative measures taken by Yousuf Raza Gilani as the Prime Minister between April 26 and June 19.“We were against ordinance factory during regime of dictator Musharraf and we are against it now, the privileges given to Yousaf Raza Gilani are illegal and unconstitutional”, he stated.Babar said it is a decision of Parliament to make Raja Parvez Ashraf a Prime Minister of the country.“By not conducting local government polls, federal and provincial governments failed to comply with the constitution”, he stated.He said Prime Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf should be queried about the matter of writing a letter to Swiss authorities while new Law Minister could be summoned for NRO cases.“Which are the major parties, the answers will come forward in upcoming general elections while chance for emergence of 3rd party can’t be nullified”, Babar Awan said.He termed suo motu notice taken by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry against his son Dr. Arsalan Iftikhar as constitutional.
