Summary Newly-elected PM says departure of Gilani doesnt mean that democracy has ended.
Addressing the people and the PPP workers gathered on the occasion at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh‚ Prime Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf paid rich tributes to the Shuhada of the party who rendered their lives for the flourishment and strengthening of democracy.He said the democracy has not been linked up with personalities but their philosophy and vision is being applied and thus its continuity has been ensured.He said he belong to a middle class family which manifests that PPP honours and respects its workers to the highest rank of Prime Minister. He said it is endeavour of his party to maintain the respect of the poor people and that the fruits of democracy should reach to them.The Prime Minister said that President Asif Ali Zardari is working on the same vision to make the democracy more consolidate. He said today Yusuf Raza Gillani is no more Prime Minister‚ but the continuity of democracy is on.He said he has come along with his cabinet colleagues and party members to pay homage to the Shuhada who laid down their lives for the betterment of the democracy.The Prime Minister assured that he and his colleagues would best exercise their capabilities to bring out the country from the problems.Later answering questions‚ Raja Parvez Ashraf said that PPP respects all the state institutions and is even working on the reconciliation policy with its opponents. He said the politics of confrontation is negative but we want to consolidate the democracy institution. He said the supremacy of the parliament is in the best interest of the country.To another question the Prime Minister announced that the top most priority of his government is to improve law and order situation and to address the energy crisis. He said the whole machinery will be mobilized to improve these two sectors. He expressed the hope that these gigantic efforts would bring positive results to reduce the menace of load shedding. He said steps would be taken to control the electricity theft and run the state affairs with a good governance.Answering another question he said Pakistan wants to maintain its relationship with all the countries including neighbours based on mutual respect and equality level.Earlier‚ Prime Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf laid floral wreaths at the Mazars Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaeed Benazir Bhutto and offered Fathea at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.The Prime Minister also visited the graves of Mohtarma Nusrat Bhutto‚ Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Shahnawaz Bhutto. It was his first visit following his election as Prime Minister of Pakistan. Earlier on his arrival the Prime Minister was presented the traditional Sindhi Ajrak and cap. Recording his impression in the visitors book‚ Prime Minister paid rich tributes to the leadership of PPP for rendering their lives for the flourishment of democracy.Federal Ministers Qamar Zaman Kaira‚ Syed Khurshid Shah‚ Mansoor Watto‚ Syed Naveed Qamar‚ Nazar Mohammad Gondal‚ Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Interior Advisor Rehman Malik are accompanied the Prime Minister.A large number of people including PPP workers have gathered outside the mazars to greet the Prime Minister.
