Summary
Taliban have appointed North Waziristan based Hakeemullah Mehsud as new chief of the Tahreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Banned TTP Acting Chief Fakir Muhammad told BBC that the 42-member chief council of the TTP had taken the decision. He said that the council also announced to appoint Taliban Commander Azam Farooq as the TTP spokesman. Maulvi Fakir refuted the death news of Baitullah Mehsud, adding that he was sick and the new appointment was made according to his will. Answering a question Fakir said that Maulvi Nazir and Hafiz Gul Bahadur were also pleased on Hakeemullahs appointment as the chief.
