Summary Supreme Court has once again served PM Gilani with contempt of court notice along with NA speaker.
The applications filed by Khawaja Asif, Hamid Khan, Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi against the ruling of National Assembly’s speaker Fehmida Mirza were heard independently today.Chief justice questioned Khawaja Asif that were cases of corruption ended that he brought this application. The PML-N leader replied that it was also a case of corruption.Advocate Hamid Khan requested the court to declare speaker’s ruling unlawful, adding that speaker cannot give her ruling over the verdict of Supreme Court.He further stated in his application that speaker had wrongly stated that the full verdict doesn’t convict PM for ridiculing the court.Adding remarks, Chief justice said PM accepted the judgment as he didn’t appeal against conviction.Another applicant Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi said that speaker’s ruling is in contrast to the ruling of Supreme Court, adding that Gilani resuming his charge as PM after the sentence also comes under the contempt of court.After hearing the applications, a three-member bench headed by chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry issued NA speaker Fehmida Mirza and PM Gilani contempt of court notices.
