Summary Chairman Kashmir Committee Maulana Fazl has said there is no military solution to Kashmir issue.

Chairman Kashmir Committee said this in a statement commenting on the statement of Indian Minister for Petroleum, which he made on his visit to Pakistan. The Indian minister had said the Kashmir issue could not be resolved through arms and military. He said the Indian minister for petroleum was right in his statement, therefore, India should quit his forces from Jammu and Kashmir. Nevertheless, it was a pity that instead of quitting Kashmir, India was increasing its forces there, he added saying that today there are more than 8 lac troops deployed in Kashmir in addition to the Kashmiri police force. He said keeping such a huge force and support of the black laws by Indian government made it clear the situation of peace in Kashmir was not satisfactory.Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman clarified everyone was aware of the intentions of Indian leaders who say Kashmir was an integral part of India and there was no freedom movement going on there. He asked if there was no such movement then what was the point in keeping such a big force in Kashmir. He said India sent negotiators like Padga Dunker to Kashmir in order to sideline the Kashmir issue and to strengthen Indian control on Kashmir. He claimed the Kashmiris wanted to get freedom from India while India wanted to crush their desires.Fazl-ur-Rehman noted the 65 years old history of Pakistan and India was a witness to the fact that solution of the issue was indispensable for the strength of Indo-Pak relations.Trade relations and exchange of delegations between the two countries during the last six decades could not establish peace in the region, Fazl said.He added the people of the region had to suffer the destruction of wars due to which they could not progress considerably, as most of the resources were diverted on defence expenditures.
