Summary The country is facing a severe energy crisis as shortfall remains at 5700 MW.

The energy crisis could not be avoided due shortage of oil and gas supply while the IPPs and thermal power plants are generating 2800 megawatts of electricity less than their capacity.On the other hand, Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) faces a shortage of 1200 megawatts of electricity due to which the urban areas are facing minimum 12 and the rural areas are facing up to 18 hours of loadshedding.According to the sources, the energy crisis cannot be reduced until Rs 25 billion is paid to Pakistan State Oil (PSO).
