Confusion prevails over Sarabjit Singh' release

Summary Contradictory statements have been pouring in over the release of Indian spy Sarabjit Singh.

Indian national Sarabjit Singh is being imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat jail for more than two decades. He was arrested for his alleged involvement in four bomb attacks in Lahore and Multan in 1990. The court awarded Sarabjit with death penalty under the army act in 1991.Pakistani ambassador in US Sherry Rehman said that Sarabjit will be released in the coming week while Interior Minister Rehman Malik denied all such reports.Conversing with an Indian journalist on a social media website, Sherry Rehman tweeted that Sarabjit will be released in a week. She further said that the release will pave new ways for Indo-Pak ties.Earlier this month, former Federal Minister Ansar Burney also appealed to President Zardari to convert the death sentence of Sarabjeet Singh into life imprisonment on humanitarian grounds.
