Sources revealed that Dr. Afridi was detained by outlaw Lashkar-e-Islam and released after paying 0.2 million rupees as a fine and with consultations of the secret tribal ‘Jirga’ Dr. Afridi was sentenced to 33 years under Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR).One of the members of secret tribal ‘Jirga’ told Online on condition of anonymity, the case of Dr. Afridi was under prosecution for last 6 months and treason case was registered against him after thorough investigations.He added that ‘Jirga’ had recommended maximum punishment to Dr. Afridi as his life is full of controversies and he was suspended several times from job due to alleged corruption cases.He said Dr. Afridi has defamed FATA across the world and due to his move the ongoing schemes in FATA are being viewed with suspicion.A High profile officer of the local administration said Dr. Afridi had taken 6 packets of the vaccines of the United Nations with himself from Jamrud to devise polio vaccination drive successful on March 16, 2011 before Abbottabad operation against Osama Bin Laden and administered fake polio drive in Abbottabad on March 17, 18 and 19, 2011.The higher authorities of the Health Department had registered report against Dr. Afridi in FATA Secretariat but no action had been taken against him due to his strong influence, he added.
