Assistant Secretary General, Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), Abdul Moiz Bokhari paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at the PM House before proceeding to Jeddah to assume the charge of his post in OIC Secretariat. The Prime Minister congratulated Bokhari on his election to the post of Assistant Secretary General. He termed his election as a manifestation of Pakistans importance among the Muslim world and its ever growing fraternal ties with the OIC member states. Prime Minister Gilani directed the Assistant Secretary General to strive for Pakistans active role in OIC and seek assistance of the member states in the reconstruction efforts for the IDPs. He asked Bokhari to ensure the continued interest of the OIC Secretariat in resolution of Kashmir dispute as well as of Palestine issue. He assured him of his governments complete support and cooperation in discharging of his duties in the OIC Secretariat. The Prime Minister said that his government would expedite the signing of new OIC Charter and fast track of the ratification process. The Prime Minister also met Pakistans Ambassadors-designate to Brunei, Bulgaria and Hungary who paid farewell call on him at the PM House.
