Summary Supreme Court asks government to submit ISI political cell notification.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, on Thursday heard a petition filed by Air Marshal (retd) Asghar Khan.During case proceedings, the court asked the government to hand over the notification regarding establishment of a political cell in the ISI by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in May 1975.In his remarks‚ the Chief Justice observed that former Director General of ISI‚ Assad Durrani‚ has provided sufficient information the court.Secretary Law Yasmin Abbasi also presented Habib Bank Commissions interim report in the court.The court maintained that reports of Habib bank and Mehran bank commission are very important - if not presented - a case should be registered with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for its recovery.Air Marshal Asghar Khan (retd) in his petition asked the Supreme Court to look into the matter pertaining to distribution of millions of rupees by the ISI among the anti-PPP politicians to manipulate the 1990 elections.Hearing of the case has been adjourned till June 4.
