Crackdown on sugar hoarders continues across Punjab

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif ordered a crackdown on sugar hoarders across the province. Revenue officials backed by police raided sugar mills and godowns across Punjab and seized hundreds of thousands of hoarded sugar bags. Police seized 7 lakh sugar bags and arrested 5 people in the latest ongoing crackdown. 670,000 bags were seized and 10 people were arrested from Adam Sugar Mills in Chishtian. Another raid on a cotton factory in Haroonabad, also in Bahawalnagar district, yielded 5200 bags. Police arrested two people. In Checha Watni, police seized 4600 bags hoarded in Nazir Market. In Borewala, DDOR and police seized 950 bags hoarded in a mill. In another raid, Pak Pattan district administration siezed 12,000 bags of sugar. In Faisalabad, police raided on a plastice making factory and seized 2,400 bags og hoarded sugar and arrested 5 people who opened fire on police.
