The operation in Karachi’s Lyari area entered its seventh day on Thursday as provincial authorities decide to call in Rangers for final assault against criminal elements in the area.The area, however, was tense amid intermittent gunshots. Moreover, residents remained in a state of fear and uncertainty.At least seven people were killed and more than 40 people were reportedly injured in clashes between security personnel and heavily armed criminals during last 24 hours.Additional police contingents took positions in troubled localities including Afshani Gali, Nawa Lane and Gabol park.Two suspected miscreants killed during police encounter last night have been identified as Shiraz and Junaid.
