Hearing of contempt case against PM resumes today

The seven-member bench of Supreme Court will resume hearing of of contempt case against PM today.

The Supreme Court will resume contempt of court hearing against Prime Minister Syaed Yousuf Raza Gilani.During court hearing on Monday, PM counsel Aitzaz Ahsan used Dr Afia case in his arguments while defending the president.He argued how could we demand Afia’s release if we send our president to appear before a magistrate abroad.The court said that an issue of national importance could not be ignored. Seven-member bench headed by Justice Nasirulmulk heard the contempt case.Aitzaz Ahsan also suggested to Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani to stop hearing the case. Justice Asif Saeed Khosa asked what if the court kept on hearing the case till the decision. Aitzaz Ahsan said the state might appeal against it as the court was not competent to hear the case.
