Fakhra acid attack case against Bilal Khar re-opened

SHC has issued notices on petitions against exoneration of Bilal Khar in Fakhra acid attack case.

The divisional bench of the Sindh High Court comprising Justice Maqbool Baqir and Justice Muhammad Shafi Saddiqui heard the petitions filed by three NGOs against exoneration of Bilal Khar, son of ex-Punjab Governor Ghulam Mustafa Khar, in the Fakhra acid attack case.The High Court issued notices to the Advocate General and the Prosecutor General after hearing arguments.The SHC also said that Sindh Prosecutor General Shahadat Awan has earlier appeared in the trial court, therefore some other lawyer should replace him in the trial court. The SHC has also called record of the trial court.The trial court had freed Bilal Khar of charges that he had thrown acid of his wife Fakhra Younis.Fakhra committed suicide last week in Italy where had had gone for surgery after several attempts by local surgeons to rebuild her face failed. She jumped off a building to kill herself.
