Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira Saturday said work on Bhasha dam has started and there would be no shortage of gas, oil and electricity by the end of year 2010. Addressing Meet the Press programme at Lahore Press Club, he said that PPP had always struggled against dictatorship and the SCs judgment would play an important role for strengthening democracy in the country. He said that government was introducing short and long term policies to overcome power shortage in the country and added the Prime Minister has constituted a 6-member cabinet committee to resolve the issue of loadshedding in the country. We are meeting with Wapda and Karachi Electricity Supply Company (KESC)s men for this purpose, he added. The minister urged the media to play its role for developing public support against terrorism and extremists in the country. Press has always played pivotal role for the restoration of democracy in the country, he added. He said the government was launching a Journalist Training Programme in all big cities of the country to train the community. This programme will enable the journalists community to perform duties effectively and actively, he added.
