E-crime Ordinance: 10 years prison, fine on cyber crimes

An ordinance on the cyber crime has been approved by the Senate under which 10 years prison and Rs 1 million could be fined on the cyber crimes. Under the ordinance, cyber crime tribunal will be formed. Access to confidential information through electronic means and photography with mobile phone without permission will be considered punishable crimes. A special wing in the FIA will be liable to take action on threatening through internet, using abusive language and sending immoral pictures through internet. A right to appeal against such penalties will be available.
