From Kooz to Chaap: Celebrating Balochistan's rich culture

(Dunya News) – Balochistan Cultural Day is celebrated in Quetta and all across the province to honour the opulent culture, traditions and history of the region.
Rich in language, culture and history, each year Baloch celebrate this day with zeal to preserve the uniqueness of their lifestyle.

To celebrate this day, people of all age groups participated in an event where they dressed in traditional outfits. Women wore Balochi ‘Kooz’ with colourful handmade embroidery, while men were seen decked in shalwar kameez, embroidered waistcoat, and the traditional headgear known as ‘Dastaar’, with Balochi ‘chawat’ - traditional handmade shoes.

On the cultural day, there was the traditional dance of ‘Chaap’ which added colour to the festivities. Stalls exhibiting traditional handicrafts and those offering local dishes were also set up at the event marking the cultural day.
