Attack in Northern Gaza resulted in six casualties
A deadly attack has killed and injured at least six people, according to Gaza’s civil defence.
It follows a series of earlier strikes on homes in Gaza City that killed one person and injured at least four others.
US charges against Hamas leaders won't change peace talks
The US Justice Department’s criminal charges against Hamas leaders are mostly for show and will have little impact on the ongoing ceasefire negotiations, claims Israeli analyst and former hostage negotiator Gershon Baskin.
“I don’t think it complicates things,” Baskin told Al Jazeera.
“I don’t think Sinwar or any of the other Hamas leaders are going to be boarding a plane to New York anytime soon… It’s really just a statement of public publicity.”
However, arrest warrants by the International Criminal Court (ICC) – expected to be issued for leaders of both Hamas and Israel – are “a different ball game”, he said.
UN special rapporteur accuses Israel of international crimes
The UK said this week that it will suspend 30 out of 350 arms export licences to Israel, citing a “clear risk” they could be used in serious breaches of international humanitarian law.
Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, says there was a recognition among states that Israel was “committing a series of international crimes”.
“There is huge pressure in the UK and in other countries … not to be complicit in these [international war crimes]. However, there is also a recognition that under the order given by the International Court of Justice, there might be complicity in acts of genocide,” Albanese told Al Jazeera.
“So there is a moment of awakening. But again this is the beginning. It’s still not enough.”
In January, the ICJ ordered Israel to take action to prevent acts of genocide during its war on Gaza.

US charges Hamas leader, other militants in connection with Oct. 7 massacre in Israel
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Justice Department announced criminal charges Tuesday against Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and other senior militants in connection with the Oct. 7, 2023, rampage in Israel, marking the first effort by American law enforcement to formally call out the masterminds of the attack.
The seven-count criminal complaint filed in federal court in New York City includes charges such as conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization resulting in death, conspiracy to murder U.S. nationals and conspiracy to finance terrorism.
Keep the heat on Israel for polio vaccination success
Palestinian Health Minister Majid Abu Ramadan has called on the international community to maintain pressure on Israel to halt the bombings, allowing for the continuation of the polio vaccination campaign rollout.
Israeli forces unleash a new wave of violence
At least 43 people were killed and five children sustained multiple injuries over the past day as Israeli forces launched another attack on Gaza.
The forces hit people near a hospital in central Deir el-Balah shortly after a pause in fighting for polio vaccination came to an end on Tuesday.
UK walks tightrope with hardened stance on Israel
LONDON (AFP) – The backlash to Britain's suspension of some arms exports to Israel shows the fine line the Labour government has to tread in its relations with its Middle Eastern ally.
While suggesting it will be tougher towards Israel than Conservative predecessors, the suspension also highlights Labour's difficulty in pleasing both Jewish groups with which it has worked hard to repair relations and its left-wing, largely pro-Palestinian base.
'The world cannot afford to wait any longer' for Gaza truce deal, says US
JERUSALEM (AFP) - The United States said Tuesday (Sep 3) it was time to "finalise" a deal between Israel and Hamas to end the Gaza war after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused to bow to pressure.
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller spoke a day after Netanyahu doubled down despite domestic and international pressure following the recovery by Israel's military of six killed hostages from the war-ravaged Palestinian territory.

In the latest bloodshed, two Palestinian men were killed in "Israeli aggression on the Dhnaba suburb, east of Tulkarem", the Ramallah-based ministry said in a statement.
