13 dead in Israeli strike on Gaza school: report
The official Palestinian news agency has said that at least 13 people have been killed in an Israeli strike on a school sheltering displaced Palestinians in Al-Nuseirat in central Gaza, Reuters reports.
The Israeli military said it was looking into the report.
Hamas drops key demand for Gaza truce: report
Hamas has given initial approval to a US-backed proposal for a phased truce deal in Gaza, dropping a key demand that Israel gives an upfront commitment for a complete end to the fighting, Al Jazeera reports according to officials from Hamas and Egypt, quoted by the Associated Press news agency.
The reported compromise by the Palestinian group could help deliver the first long-term pause in fighting since last November and set the stage for further talks on ending hostilities.
The two officials, who spoke on conditions of anonymity, told the agency that the deal would include a “full and complete” six-week ceasefire that would see the release of a number of hostages in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
EU turning blind eye to members’ arms trade with Tel Aviv
The EU lacks a provision prohibiting arms trade with Israel that is being tried at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for genocide in the Gaza Strip, Anadolu Agency reports.
It allows member states to continue exports to and imports from Israel.

Hamas accepts US proposal on talks over Israeli hostages
Hamas has accepted a US proposal to begin talks on releasing Israeli hostages, including soldiers and men, 16 days after the first phase of an agreement aimed at ending the Gaza war, a senior Hamas source told Reuters on Saturday.
The militant Islamist group has dropped a demand that Israel first commit to a permanent ceasefire before signing the agreement, and would allow negotiations to achieve that throughout the six-week first phase, the source told Reuters on condition of anonymity because the talks are private.
Israeli bombing in Nuseirat kills two more journalists
Journalist Amjad Jahjouh, his wife and fellow journalist Wafa Abu Dabaan and their child have been killed in an Israeli bombing on Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp, according to Al Jazeera’s team on the ground.
With the killing of Jahjouh and his wife, the number of Palestinian journalists who have been killed since the start of fighting in Gaza has risen to 158.
Israel targets Palestinian law enforcement around Gaza’s Rafah
Six policemen were killed in an Israeli bombardment that hit their car in the Saudi neighbourhood of western Rafah, according to the Palestinian Information Center.
One person was killed as a result of an Israeli bombing of a police car in Gaza’s al-Shakoush area, northwest of Rafah.
Law enforcement personnel were also targeted by Israeli forces in Tal as-Sultan, in western Rafah city. The forces were protecting residential homes after residents were evicted.

Gaza’s Government Media Office has confirmed the identities and affiliations of the five journalists killed by Israel across the enclave in the past 24 hours.

Israeli attacks claim 87 lives in Gaza within 48 hours, Ministry
According to the health ministry in Gaza, the death toll has risen to at least 87 people in the past 48 hours as a result of Israeli military attacks.
The ministry also reported that 38,098 Palestinians have been killed and 87,705 others have sustained multiple injuries since October 7.

The Israeli military has intensified its attacks on the Gaza Strip, killing 29 people over the past 24 hours. Tragically, two journalists were among those killed in these attacks.

At least 10 Palestinians have been killed and several others injured in an Israeli attack on a house in central Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp, according to medical sources cited by Turkey’s Anadolu news agency.
The sources said that among the dead were nine members of the Jahjouh family, including seven brothers, a woman and a child.
Colombia's President Petro shares clip of concert to stop 'Genocide in Palestine'
President Gustavo Petro, an outspoken supporter of Palestinians, has shared a video clip of a significant concert advocating for Palestine and condemning Israel's genocide in Gaza.
His stance has brought him into a public dispute with Israel.
Taking to social media, Petro stated, 'This is the concert of hope and against genocide in Palestine.'
The concert took place on Friday night at Bolivar Square in the capital city, Bogota.
Musicians from Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela, Chile, Panama, and other countries performed at the outdoor event. A massive Palestinian flag, featuring the words 'Stop the Genocide' in Spanish, was unfurled from a building.

The Israeli military has been conducting airstrikes and artillery fire in the area, resulting in casualties and destruction.
‘Dire situation’ grows worse in Gaza amid mass displacement and fighting: UN
Nine in every 10 people in Gaza are internally displaced due to Israel’s war on the territory, the UN reports, and an estimated 250,000 are living in areas of eastern Khan Younis and Rafah that are under an Israeli military evacuation order, which usually precedes a ground offensive.
The latest situation report from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) also notes that fuel shortages pose a threat to life-saving health services in Gaza’s hospitals, as well as the functioning of crucial water and sanitation infrastructure.
The OCHA also reports that displaced people in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza are facing extremely dire living conditions, including critical shortages of water, shelter and food.

Pro-Palestinian protesters vandalised Israeli captive photos
A US lawmaker has reported that during a protest, activists vandalized photos of Israeli captives. Pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside Brad Schneider's Capitol Hill office and tore down posters that displayed images of more than 100 people, including eight US citizens, who were held captive in Gaza following an attack on southern Israel on October 7.
Brad Schneider, a vocal supporter of Israel, expressed his condemnation of the incident, describing it as "a vile act of hate." He shared a photo on social media showing the crumpled posters scattered on the floor outside his office.
Schneider emphasized the significance of the timing, stating that the act was particularly shameful as it occurred on July 4th, the Independence Day of the United States. Being Jewish himself, Schneider represents a suburban district north of Chicago.

Israel continues Gaza attacks, says 'gaps' remain in renewed truce talks
GAZA (Agencies) - An Israeli delegation has travelled to Qatar after a new Hamas proposal earlier this week generated renewed hope for a truce agreement, as fighting continues to rage across Gaza.
The Israeli negotiators, led by spy chief David Barnea, met mediators in Doha on Friday, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office. The talks were set to resume next week, the office said, when another negotiating team would be deployed to Qatar.
