Famous folk singer Arif Lohar said that folk singers are inborn, they cannot be made. Talking on the 30th anniversary of his father during Dunya News program Jaago Dunya he said that teacher is very important in folk singing. Arif said he started learning singing at the age of 4 years and released his first album Puttar Alam Lohar Da at the age of just 7. He said that his mother wished he could act in films and its because of the prayers of his mother that he has worked in 45 films so far. Answering a question he said, he had learned 17 folk plays by heart.
