Kajol promotes wage equality in Bollywood with popular women-led flicks

(Web Desk) - Veteran Bollywood actress Kajol spoke on salary equity in the Hindi film business at the Jagran Film Festival in Delhi.

She said that when India begins making large-scale films with a female lead that do as well as "Pathaan," which starred Shah Rukh Khan and became the greatest domestic grosser in Hindi cinema history, female actresses will have a legitimate claim to equal compensation.

Kajol's viewpoint on pay equity emphasises the need for more significant parts and popular productions with female protagonists. She thinks that female actresses will be in a stronger position to demand pay equity when such films attain the same degree of box office success and notoriety as their male-led equivalents.

Several well-known Bollywood actresses have discussed this problem. Priyanka Chopra has talked about her experience in India where she was paid less than her male co-stars and how that changed when she worked on the Prime Video production "Citadel." Deepika Padukone also discussed a time when she turned down a role because of unequal remuneration and believed it was inappropriate to lower her standards in order to accommodate the male protagonist.
