New Delhi: Kavita, Samant present their collections

Eminent designer Kavita Bhartia paid tribute to Indian weavers through her collection at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in New Delhi Sunday (October 09). It was the second day of ongoing fashion week.Gorgeous models walked the ramp showcasing Bhartias wide range of creations and among them were the famed stage and movie artiste Tom Alter and Lis Haydon, the model-turned Bollywood actress.Later briefing media persons Bhartia said that she has named her presentation as Kaleidoscope, the reason being this instrument provides a wide array of colours for the viewer.Further she said that her collection was the result of her understanding the ethos of Indian weavers and their craftsmanship.This collection has been totally inspired by the craftspeople, the crafts that I grew up with and its really a tribute to the craftspeople of India, said Bhartia. No wonder, the showstopper of the event was Lisa Haydon as she dazzled the audience with her gait.Well, what I love about the collection is like a … in Indian ethics, in the colours, in the fabrics, in the embroidery etc. But she uses incredible colours and shapes that are made for everyday, you can wear them through the lovely evening gowns and you know there is a western sensibility about it as well, so it is a great combination of blend of both, said Lisa Haydon.Later in the evening Samant Chauhan, fashion designer came up with an ingenious idea of opening his show by presenting a skit by his models.Renowned fashion designers such as Ritu Kumar, Sanchita, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Rohit Bal, Rina Dhaka among others are showcasing their collections at this fashion bonanza.Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week is among the prominent fashion shows in the country. It attracts a huge number of designers and buyers from India and abroad. Several celebrities and fashion divas across the country are expected to be a part of this glamorous weeklong extravaganza.
