Kashmir unrest: Pakistan bans screening of all Indian content
No Indian cinema will be screened in any Pakistani cinema, said Dr Firdous.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has announced to impose ban on the screening of all kind of Indian content due to escalating unrest in occupied Kashmir.
In a tweet, Firdous said, “No Indian cinema will be screened in any Pakistani cinema. Drama, films and Indian content of this kind will be completely banned in Pakistan.
She expressed that every step will be taken to heal the wounds and increase the unprecedented morale of the Kashmiri people. She went on to say that Indian content will be confiscated from all the shops across the country where the crackdown will start soon.
Firdous Awan asserted that necessary instructions have been issued to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to not broadcast any Indian movie or any other program on the TV.
The decision came after Indian government ended Kashmir’s special status by abrogating articles 370 and 35A of the Constitution.
She maintained that civilian leadership has given voice to the Kashmiris and national leadership has given message to the world that Kashmir is the backbone of Pakistan. “Pakistan will stand wherever India will try to exploit the Kashmiris”, she added.
SAPM Awan said that Pakistan will to the United Nation Security Council (UNSC) soon whereas Pakistan’s Ambassador to UN Maleeha Lodhi is making consultations in the New York. “Documents are being prepared as India has created a global problem for them,” she added.
Indian Home Minister Amit Shah during his address in Rajya Sabha said, “Kashmir will no longer be a state. It will be divided into two union territories – Kashmir, which will have a legislature, and Ladakh, which will be without a legislature."
He also told that the valley would be re-organized geographically.
The revocation of the articles has allowed other non-Muslim Indian citizens to buy land in the valley while a separate legislative assembly will be established there for its own laws.
