Sindh Theatre Festival opens in Karachi

(Dunya News) – Sindh Theatre Festival organised by the Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Department of Sindh kicked off in Karachi this week.

Provincial Minister of Sindh for Culture, Tourism, Antiquities and Archives, Syed Sardar Shah, inaugurated the festival. Fourteen plays will be presented during the festival, seven of which will be in Urdu and seven in Sindhi.

The first day’s theatrical show began with a play titled ‘Munkir’ written by Ahmed Mujtaba. The story, which focuses on violence against women in the confinement of their homes, is a tribute to the women who raised their voice against cruelty of the society and succeeded in getting their rights acknowledged.

The purpose of the drama is to raise awareness among the public on the issue of domestic violence against women.

The plays being performed during the theatre festival include a wide range of topics and subjects.

The festival will continue till the end of the month.
