Summary Music lovers observe 17th death anniversary of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan today
WEB DESK (Dunya News) - The ‘king of kings of Qawwali’ and an internationally acclaimed music legend Nusrat Feteh Ali Khan’s 17th death anniversary is being observed among the local and international audience here on Saturday.
Born in a Pakistani family that had a 600-year-old Qawwali tradition, Khan was perhaps the most popular and significant legendary musicologist of Qawwali in the entire international community.
He started his professional career as a qawwal at the age of 16. Right after his first public performance, this young charismatic voice was given the legendary title of ‘Ustad’.
A strong and melodious voice, a vocal presentation that could last up to 10 hours and mastery in Islamic devotional style of music were the elements that made Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s popularity touch to the heights of sky soon after his first major hit song ‘Haq Ali Ali’.
Khan’s career is full of many music joint ventures with the well known international singers and music tour to almost 40 countries.
According to Guinness Book of World Records, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan holds the highest number of Qawwali albums released so far which is, almost 125.
He was among those shining stars who were awarded pride of performance in 1987.
The great legend died of cardiac arrest in London in 1997 at the age of 48.
The mystical musicologist will stay alive in the hearts of Sufi lovers spread all over the world.
