Movie fans are being given the chance to see the actual Oscar statuette to be presented to the Best Actress winner at next week's Academy Awards. The exhibition Meet the Oscars was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by 2000 Best Supporting Actress winner Marcia Gay Harden.The display is one of two exhibitions, one in New York City, the other in Chicago. The New York collection includes the Oscar that will be given to the Best Actress winner at the 82nd Academy Awards, together with the miniature statuette that actress Judy Garland received in 1939 for outstanding performance by a screen juvenile. Fans can learn how an Oscar statuette is made, and get their photo taken with an award.Five women are in the running for this years Best Actress. They include Sandra Bullock for The Blind Side, Helen Mirren in The Last Station, Carey Mulligan for her role in An Education, Gabourey Sidibe for Precious and Meryl Streep in Julie and Julia.The 82nd Academy Awards will be held at 8pm Eastern on March 7.
