The sixth annual Chitwan Elephant Festival, began on Saturday in Nepal drawing more than one thousand spectators, has ended.The festival, held between Christmas and New Year, takes place in Sauraha, the gateway to Chitwan National Park.The main highlight of the festival, is the elephant race, which many locals and tourists, like Jack from Holland, have come specially to watch.This is the first time we see elephant race, he said.In its sixth year, the annual event is gaining popularity amongst locals and visiting tourists.Two foreign teams from Slovakia and Australia took part in the race this year.The top three places were won by local teams and 'Champakali', representing Hotel Barahi of Pokhara, bagged the top prize. The festival runs through December 29th.
