French breakdancer Lilou crowned Red Bull BC One champion
Sixteen breakdancers from eleven countries competed in New York for the title of Red Bull BC One champion. The breakdancers faced each other in one-on-one dance-offs, with one competitor eliminated in each round until only two were left: Lilou from France and Cloud from Los Angeles, California. After the final showdown, Lilou was crowned the winner for the second time in his career. Now I feel I'm really in the legend of the breakdance history because I have two belts, so no one has been two times champion of the world. So I'm so happy for that, said Lilou, who also goes by the name Ali Ramdani.Cloud, whose real name is Daniel Campos, has worked as a dancer on pop star Madonna's tours. He said the contest was more intimidating than dancing with Madonna. This is what I grew up doing so this is, like, my peers. And for me, this will always be the most intimidating, he said. The Red Bull BC One has previously been held in Switzerland and South Africa. Organizers said it was fitting for the contest to make its U.S. debut in New York, the birthplace of Hip-Hop.
