Summary The three-day Singapore film festival is to be held at India Habitat Centre from October 1.

The films to be screened include 881 by director Royston Tan, Singapore GaGa by Tan Pin Pin, Liao Jiekai Liao Jiekais Red Dragonflies and Boo Junfengs Sandcastle.881 is a story of two childhood friends fixation with the glitz and glamour of Getai (an energetic stage performance). Singapore GaGa is a bittersweet biography of the countrys everyday sounds and sights, often unnoticed amongst the urban noise. With both local and national acclaim, Tans musical-comedy 881 has had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival and done the festival rounds.Pins Singapore GaGa is a poignant search of the essence of Singaporeanness and seeks to explore the countrys history, context and limits. With a loyal following, Pins film has been screened at notable festivals like Berlin, Pusan, Cinema du Reel, Visions du Reel, Rotterdam and the Flaherty Seminar.Also on show would be Red Dragonflies, a story of two friends and their search for a world littered with incongruity, absences and traces of childhood dreams and Sandcastle, an 18-year-old Ens journey into self discovery amidst his first romance, his grandmothers worsening Alzheimers and his school-teacher mothers affair.The film festival will also host conversations with directors Royston Tan and Boo Junfeng post their films screenings. High Commissioner of Singapore in India, Karen Tan will also be present on the occasion.
