What looks like a riot is in fact part of a religious festival in El Salvador, a country in Central America. Each year at the same time in the town of Nai Yappa, people take turns hurling fireballs at one another, in honour of a huge volcanic eruption in 1922 that destroyed the old town. Locals throw petrol-soaked rags at one another, because they believe the volcanic lava was actually a local saint fighting the devil with balls of fire. Young men in El Salvador have been celebrating the religious festival since many decades yet there are no set rules for it.
