Summary Beyonce and Chris Brown won top BET Awards, with Jay-Z and Kanye West also picking up prizes.
The BET Awards on Sunday (July 01) celebrated the top talent among black artists in a night of lively performances and an emotional heartfelt tribute to late singer Whitney Houston.The annual BET Awards celebrates black musicians, actors and athletes, giving out awards in twenty categories over a three-and-a-half hour telecast.Kanye West and Jay-Z accepted the best group award for The Throne, the collaboration that spawned last years Watch The Throne album.The duo also won the video of the year award for Otis, beating out nominees Beyonce and Usher.Jay-Z gained the biggest laugh of the night when he interrupted West during their acceptance speech for video of the year, saying excuse me Kanye, Im going to let you continue but, a reference to Wests infamous interruption during Taylor Swifts acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.Chris Brown also picked up the best male R&B artist award for the second year running.Singer Beyonce, who won the award for best female R&B artist thanked women in the genre who inspired her.The BET Awards 12 were hosted by actor Samuel L. Jackson.
