Summary The cast of Hollywood action film Marvel Avengers Assemble attended the London premiere.
It was a super hero gathering on Thursday as cast members of the new Marvel Avengers Assemble movie turned out in full force for the films European premiere.Actors Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo and Clark Gregg as well as actresses Scarlett Johansson and Cobie Smulders were all present and greeted fans and waiting media at Londons Westfield Shopping Centre. Many fans had dressed up for the occasion, wearing costumes of Marvel comic book characters, such as the Hulk, Iron Man and Thor. The film brings together for the first time some of the Marvel universes favourite characters, united to combat evil forces from outer space. Many characters will be familiar to the cinema audience, as some, including Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America and Thor all have their individual franchises out. With so many characters and story lines now coming together in one film, Robert Downey Jr., who has played Tony Stark in the last two Iron Man movies, admitted he did have some concerns initially whether this project would work, but said after seeing the final result all doubts were forgotten. And whilst it was a new experience for his character Tony Stalk to suddenly share centre stage with other super heroes, Downey Jr. admitted being part of an ensemble cast does have its benefits. The actor, who was joined by his heavily pregnant wife, Elsa Pataky, later discovered that European accents can prove quite a challenge to his Australian ears, as he was asked by a French reporter about becoming a father.Mistaking the word dad for dead, a confused Hemsworth eventually understood and gentlemanly replied:Yes and Im looking forward to it. A bigger challenge than wearing this cape I think is -- fatherhood, he laughed. While his character already has two movies out, for Mark Ruffalo inheriting the role of The Incredible Hulk from Edward Norton and Eric Bana, was a task, which the actor said he didnt take lightly.Clark Gregg, who plays agent Phil Coulson in Avengers, felt equally happy to be part of the film. Having previously appeared with brief cameos in the two Iron Man movies, this time his character has a bigger role to play.Marvel Avengers Assemble will be released in UK theatres on April 26.
